|
WHAT: Eighteen local high schools will compete in the 11th annual Los Angeles "Surf Bowl," a regional ocean sciences contest to be held on Saturday, March 6, at the University of Southern California. USC's Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., co-host the academic competition. Students will also be tested in social sciences, geography and technology pertaining to marine science. The winning student team will compete against 24 other regional champions at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, Fla., April 23 through 25.
